Heather Carter

Heather Carter is a sculptor and designer living in Wimberley, Texas. With a BFA in Sculpture from Southwestern University, she creates commissioned pieces for public and private spaces, working almost entirely in fallen and found wood.

She is a founder and board member of projectART Wimberley, a non-profit supporting art education and creative opportunities for area students. Her work has appeared in Texas Monthly, Celebrate Austin, Hays Humm and the Wimberley View. In 2006 Souls of the Trees was commissioned by the City of Austin for the Spicewood Springs Public Library; in 2023 and 2024 she completed three outdoor installations in Wimberley's public parks.

Her Lifeboats series has been shown in five spaces, including Austin City Hall, Gallery Shoal Creek, Texas State University and Southwestern University. Heather was also the general contractor and designer of her family's home, featured in nationally syndicated press.
